The Hearth Centre (Horsley) Ltd as a charity aims is to create a sustainable and resilient arts venue that supports our tenants, emerging creative talent and enterprise whilst extending our cultural offer and access to the arts.
THE HEARTH CENTRE (Horsley) LTD was established in 2004, as a charity, we rely on support from visitors, individuals, trusts, foundations, public organisations and the corporate sector. This support helps us achieve our mission as 'A Place that Supports Art, Heritage and Culture'.
The Hearth Centre is situated within a restored Grade II listed 17th Century Manse, is attached to a Victorian Gothic Revival Church and still incorporates many original architectural features from the sixteenth century. The Hearth Charity provides affordable studio space to eight resident artists, a cafe, hosts special events and has two hireable events spaces for creative and cultural events.
Audiences at The Hearth can engage in a year-round programme of creative workshops, activities, talks and special events, including live music, performance and film. The Arts Centre has extended its cultural offer as a local promoter for the Highlights Rural Touring Scheme and as a venue celebrating film, as part of the Tyne Valley Film Festival, in partnership with the Forum Cinema Hexham.
Alongside our Centre Co-ordinator and Caretaker, The Hearth Charity, governed by a board of voluntary trustees, aims to create a sustainable and resilient arts venue that supports our tenants, emerging creative talent and enterprise whilst extending our cultural offer and access to the arts. A guiding principle of the Hearth is to pay the artists and creatives who deliver our programme of events a fair remuneration for their labour, as we value their experience and talent.
Thank you for donating and supporting the Arts, Culture and Heritage.
Funding secured from grants, legacies and donations and gift aid associated with them helps towards arts education, engagement, community projects and maintaining the unique grade II listed 17th Century Manse, within which we reside.
how are donations used?
THE HEARTH CHARITY is grateful for all donations, which help finance the maintenance of the studios and interior of our unique Grade II listed building, enable us to update equipment to enhance audience experience and to provide ground funding for voluntary run community groups and to create additional partnerships within the arts, voluntary and cultural sectors .
