Learn to Paint and Draw at the Hearth with artist, Niki Black

Nikki's popular introductory art course returns for a second run of sessions.

Duration: 6  weeks from 15 April until 20 May 2026

Day: Wednesday afternoon sessions 2 - 4pm.

Learn to paint, draw and enjoy creating your own artwork with an introduction to different materials, techniques and methods. We will explore new themes (including landscape, still-life, portraiture) and materials (including  watercolour, acrylics, charcoal and coloured pencil) on a rolling 2 week basis, providing 'tasters' and tools to get you drawing and painting. We will look at observation techniques, capturing perspective, creating depth and contrast, using colour wash and mark making.

Level:   Suitable for beginners and those wishing to redevelop existing or rusty  skills.

Dates: Classes start again on Wed afternoons from 15 April 2026.
Duration:  6weeks, 2 hours per week.
Location: The Hall at The Hearth Arts Centre & Cafe, Main Road, Horsley,   NE15 0NT

Cost:
£120 for 6 sessions

Art materials: If you are a beginner and want to ‘try before you buy’ or are just unsure what to bring I will provide some basic materials to enable you to get started on both drawing and painting. If you have your own, please bring your materials along.
