From Lindsey:
I bought Warchild's Help 2 Album recently, it was win win because I love music and I knew that my purchase would send cash where it was urgently needed.
I was half way through disc 2 and started to listen to the song 'I Carried My Girl' by Bat For Lashes but had to pull over because I was so moved by her imagery of a mother and her daughter, and the devastating loss being described. It also hurt me to suppose that women, mothers and children living in these horrific circumstances could feel unseen or that their pain and loss does not matter to us, 'not one person lifted their head', another lyric from the song.
Well I thought, I see you, I feel you...every time I look at my own little girl (pictured) and my son. But what can I do?... I thought, I can sing and share songs, I can raise money and awareness, so lets do that, lets start there!
And here we are now, an event is born - "All our babies, they're all our babes" will be a powerful gathering as women, mamas and non mamas, to sing together for peace, send our love and words of comfort out to all the victims of war, and summon the energy for urgent change in our world where the people who don't start wars do not suffer the most, especially our (collective) children. And raise a heap of cash of course!
Ping me a message if you'd like to come, and or with any questions you may have: lindseyjoysings@gmail.com / 07817 305458. Places are limited.
Young women and children are of course welcome to attend/ The songs will be aimed at an adult audience/ Refreshments and biscuits included.
I Carried My Girl - by Bat For Lashes
I carried my girl
Did you know the world
Is coming to the end?
And did you hear the screams
Of all the mothers forced to pretend?
I carried my girl across the desert
Yet not one person noticed her dead
I carried my girl to the ocean
Yet not one person lifted their head
All our babies
They're all our babes
And are you moved by all these tears
That have swept away the dead?
Can you feel the beat
Of another's heart that's crushing, crushing?
I carried my girl across the desert
Yet not one person noticed her dead
Would you carry my girl across an ocean?
Would you be the last person to cradle their head?
All our babies
They're all our babes
All our babies
They're all our babes
All our babies
They're all our babes
All our babies
They're all our babies
