Landscapes in Watercolour and Stitch

With Jessica Kinnersley
Sketchbooks are an important part of recording and developing ideas.  If I can’t draw on location I like to work back from photographs and explore the bands of colour I see in the landscape.  This workshop is inspired by my sketchbook studies.

In this day workshop you will be guided through watercolour painting with a “warm up” on paper and fabric, before working from a chosen landscape image.  In the afternoon we will explore adding small snippets of textile collage and stitch to bring out landscape details and texture. You are welcome to work from one of my images or bring your own.  It’s advisable to share your image with me prior to the workshop if you plan to use your own, so I can help with size and scale as we work between A4 and A5.  Finished collages are ideal to pop in a mount or wrap around a canvas.

A little experience of stitching is ideal for this workshop but not absolutely necessary, as I will guide you through all the steps involved.  This workshop is held in the hall at The Hearth. Materials are provided on the day, as are tea and coffee. You are welcome to bring lunch or order from the Hearth Café.

Date: Sunday 17th October 2021

Time: 10am – 4pm

Cost: £45 per person.

This can be paid via bank transfer, cash or cheque.  To book, or for any further queries please contact me directly at jessicakinnersleytextiles@gmail.com

North East Icons

With Jessica Kinnersley

The North East is peppered with iconic and well-known structures, from the splendour of Northumberland’s ancient ruined castles, to the contemporary Angel of the North and Newcastle Quayside. I love to visit these over the summer and some of my favourites have inspired this summery workshop.

Join me on this day workshop to create a stitched textile collage based on your favourite North East icon.  You are welcome to work from one of my images or bring your own.  It’s advisable to share your image with me prior to the workshop if you plan to use your own, so I can help with size and scale. We will look at transferring structural shapes into fabric collage, laying a ground and adding stitch detail.

Cost: £45 per person.
