Time & Location
14 Jul 2023, 10:00 – 12:00
The Hearth Art Centre, The Hearth, Main Road, Horsley, Newcastle upon Tyne NE15 0NT, UK
About the event
Create a mini textile art panel in this two hour workshop using watercolour paints and some simple stitches. Jessica will guide you through painting techniques and demonstrate some simple stitches so you can create your own textile art, inspired by the colours of summer wildflowers. No experience necessary and all materials will be provided.
A relaxed social crafting workshop, subsidised by the Co-op Community Fund and supported by Co-op members at Crawcrook and Wylam stores, to whom we give a big thank you. Enjoy the opportunity to create, chat and socialise.
Jessica Kinnersley is a local textile artist and tutor who studied Textiles and Surface Design before embarking on a career in art teaching and freelance embroidery design. She now develops her own artwork from her studio at The Hearth and continues to enjoy teaching in a range of different settings. Working predominantly with found and repurposed linens, papers and objects, Jessica layers textures, stitched musings and printed images to create nostalgic, slow-stitched textile art. Her work explores memory, narrative and landscape.
