About the event
The Honest Johns are Mark Lawson, Jon Kennedy, Paul Kennedy and Richy Corbishley , Newcastle-based musicians who have been playing original music since the late ’80’s. They toured extensively in the 90’s when they had vinyl releases and have subsequently released 3 albums. The first “Meteor” was a compilation of early demos released by German record label “Firestation”. The last 2 albums have been studio albums - “Songwriters of the North” and “Sundance” and they are writing a 4th album at the moment. They have a very loyal following in the North East and still enjoy feedback from people listening to their songs from across the globe. Influences range from Ewan MacColl to Jello Biafra via The Broken Family Band, The Low Anthem and Prefab Sprout. Recent events include sell-out concerts at Cluny 2 and the Vaults last year.
