Melanie creates ceramic sculptures and jewellery pieces in response to geological features and craggy, rugged, landscapes and coastlines, weathered and shaped by nature, including humans. Clay is shaped and textured. Combinations of oxides, engobes, matt and crater glazes are applied in multiple kiln firings, making further reference to the dramatic processes of extreme cold, heat and weather which shape and mark our rock, our land, our earth. The jewelry pieces are unearthed, natural porcelain treasures to behold.

Melanie runs ceramic workshops for children and adults from her studio, and also in schools, museums and community venues.
