WEAVING  A TWEEDY SCARF

With Jan Beadle

Friday 26th May, 10am – 4pm

 

 

This class is perfect for beginners but weavers with a little more experience will enjoy experimenting with traditional herringbone technique to create a scarf.  Looms will be set up and ready to go on the day.

Cost £55, including all materials, light lunch and refreshments. £15 deposit required to secure booking.

LEARN TO RAG RUG

Saturday 10th June, 10am - 3.30pm

 

Spend a relaxed day having fun learning the traditional craft of rag rugging with textile artists Jane Jackson and Margaret Kenny. Rag rugging is very easy to do and it’s a great way of upcycling old fabrics and clothes into beautiful new things for yourself and your home. You’ll learn the two main techniques of “Proggy” and “Hooky” and how to design and finish your work. We provide everything you'll need for the workshop, including hot drinks and homemade cake.

Cost £40 per person. £10 deposit required to secure booking.

MAKE A CERAMIC COIL VESSEL

With Sara Jane Palmer

Sunday 18 June and Sunday 9 July 10am – 4pm

  

This 2-day class, led by Hearth Artist Sara Jane Palmer, is suitable for beginners and intermediates.  You will learn how to roll clay coils and build them into a vessel - make a plate, a bowl or vase.  You are welcome to bring a vessel you would like to use as a mould, or build your pot freestyle.  Clay, slips and glazes will be provided.

Your work will be fired for you to decorate the second session.  

Tea and coffee are provided, and delicious lunches are available from the Hearth Café (not included), or bring your own packed lunch.

Cost £85 for both days, tools and materials included.

A day of landscape drawing focusing on creating drama and atmosphere in this class exploring the vibrant, intense hues of Unison Colour Pastels with artist and teacher, Jenny Purrett.

BUILD A CERAMIC SLAB VESSEL

Creative Drawing

With Jenny Purrett

Thursdays 9.30am-12.00noon, and 1pm - 3.30pm

Creative Drawing is a regular class which aims to explore a variety of different approaches in order to enable you to develop your drawing skills. Each week, Jenny plans specific activities which focus on a particular theme so, whilst the course aims to build your skills, each week is a stand alone workshop. It is a relaxed, friendly group and Jenny is a knowledgeable and experienced tutor.

If you would like to join the group, there are places. Have a trial session and then decide whether you would like to sign up for the rest of the term. The Hearth Wool Group

Whatever your woolly interest (knitting, spinning, weaving, crochet, sheep, feltmaking) or level of skill, bring along some of your own work and spend a couple of hours with like-minded people to chat, skill-share, network.  This is a drop-in session, not a formal class or course. 

The Hearth Wool Group will meet in the Hearth's hall on the SECOND and FOURTH Tuesday of each month, 1.15pm - 3.15pm, beginning 14th April.  Please come along - we'd love to see you.  There will be a £3.50 charge towards hall hire and refreshments.

Singing Babies & Squeaky Feet

Singing Babies & Squeaky Feet with live music, songs and a variety of instruments. Sessions stimulate and engage young babies and children. Parents, grandparents & child minders can all enjoy the chance to take part, and afterwards socialise over fresh coffee and carrot cake.

Singing Babies is designed for babies in their first years, whilst Squeaky Feet focuses on the confident walkers.
