My painting is improvisatory by nature, in that I allow the character of the paint medium and its application to dictate the process. It is an additive process, and I rarely scrape off paint to restart a piece, but like to build up an image in layers.
I do not have a preconceived idea of what I want to achieve, or a particular type of image in mind, but view the practice of painting as a kind of performance, one which will be completed intuitively by the viewer.
